Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat
Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat (English: The
Great Emperor Ashoka) is a 2015 Indian historical
drama serial, that aired on Colors TV from
2 February 2015 to 7 October 2016. The show was created and written by
author and screenwriter Faizan Mohammad. It stars Mohit Raina as Ashoka while Siddharth
Nigam portrayed the young version of the character
Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat was based on the life of King Ashoka (304–232 BCE), the third emperor of the Mauryan dynasty of India. How he faced the problems outside and inside Magadha and then become ruler of Magadha. The historical drama was produced by Contiloe Entertainment, and directed by Prasad Gavandi. The show premiered on 2 February 2015 with 1 hour telecast duration for first 20 episodes. The serial ended on 7 October 2016.

Plot
This series starts around the life and love of Ashoka's
parents Dharma and Bindusara.
Bindusara is the current king of Magadha and
his step-mother conspires against him. Helena's men attack Bindusara and he is
rescued by a beautiful and intelligent Brahmin woman named Dharma.
Bindusara is amazed at her skills and falls in love with her and marries her.
Dharma then conceives a child. Noor, another queen of Bindusara, and her
father, Mir Khorasan, seek to destroy Dharma. Dharma gives birth to a son and
names him as "Ashoka"
(without grief).
14 years later
Later this story depicts the life of Ashoka, a
fourteen-year-old child who overcomes obstacles with the help of Chanakya.
Dharma does not allow Ashoka to know anything about his father. But Bindusara
and Dharma, who somehow know the truth, reunite. Chanakya hopes that Ashoka
will become the great ruler of Magadha in the future because of his altruism
and his commitment to protect the motherland. But Ashoka, who has no desire for
the throne, thinks that his brother Siamak will be the best ruler for Magadha.
Meanwhile, Chanakya, along with his followers including Radhagupta, tries to
defend the throne of Magadha from the conspiracies of Helena and other enemies.
Helena thinks that Chanakya, who has pledged to protect the motherland, is a
hindrance to her and uses tactics to destroy him. Meanwhile, Chanakya finds out
that Charumitra has cast a spell on Dharma. Bindusara's eldest son,
Prince Susima is
angry with Chanakya for liking Ashoka more than himself. Bindusara's prime
minister, Khallatak is also jealous of the fact that he has more faith in
Chanakya than himself in solving the problems of Magadha. Because of this,
Helena joins Charmitra, Sushim, and Khalath. Siamak, who believed Chanakya was
responsible for the deaths of his parents (Justin and Noor), also joins the
plot. Justin was killed due to the misunderstanding of destroying Magadh. He
was getting married to a Ujjani Princess Aghnishika. Helena and her team put
fire so that Bindusara can die, but gets saved by Ashoka. Ujjain princess
Ahenkara who is forcefully engaged to Shushim (His former Love Interest),
Shushim keeps torturing Ahenkara physically to accept his proposal and kidnaps
Ahenkara's brother, Ashoka dresses up as Agradooth and saves their life which
injures Sushim, this creates a rift between Bindusara and Ashoka. where Helena
and her team Charumitra, Shushim, and others, all kill Chanakya together.
Chanakya, who breathed his last, told Ashoka that the only way he could serve
his motherland was to become the emperor of Magadha. Ashoka believes that
Chanakya died not by accident but by a conspiracy of the enemies in Magadha.
Ashoka then decides to become the emperor of Magadha, determined to punish the
guilty. Meanwhile, Ashoka leaves for Thakshashila, who intends to end Keechak's
evil rule, and he finally manages to win. There he meets Karuvaki,
a Kalinga princess. Karuvaki's father,
King Jagannath, is disappointed and the two form a strong friendship. Ashoka
later visits Pataliputra and learns that his family members were also involved
in Chanakya's death. In punishing the culprits, Ashoka and Bindusara clash, and
Susima is injured. Angered, Bindusara deports Ashoka from Pataliputra. Seeking
the protection of his son, Dharma also leaves with Ashoka and her newborn son.
They come to Ujjain.
This concludes this phase.
10 years later
The ruthless Ashoka, by the name of Chand, stays with Dharma
and his younger brother Vitashoka who nicknamed Vit at the house of Dhaniram who
is a merchant in Ujjain. Dhaniram's daughter, Devi cares so much Dharma and Vit.
Meanwhile, Kaurvaki's only intention in Kalinga is to meet Ashoka. This angered
her father, King Jagannath. This Bindusara forest has become cruel and rough.
With the help of Charumithra's magic spells, Susima becomes even more powerful.
Meanwhile, Ashoka and Susima unknowingly engage in a fight during a game.
Dharma who comes with Vitashoka tries to prevent this. Everyone recognizes
them. Bindusara forgives them and invites them to return to Pataliputra. Ashoka
does not accept Bindusara's orders. Wandering in the jungle, he meets Kaurvaki.
At the moment, Dharma is brave enough to face internal political struggles.
Ashoka sees Nirankush and his associates torturing Devi and her father. But he
is unable to capture Nirankush. Returning to Pataliputra, Ashoka tells
Bindusara that slavery has been going on for the past 10 years. He reveals that
a man named Kondna is behind this. One night, Siamak leaves for the night to
meet Kondna. Kondna appears to be Helena. Ashoka uses his tactics to capture
Kondna through Nirankush. Ashoka is unable to capture Kondna, and Nirankush
escapes. However, he gets a hint that Kondna is a woman. Ashoka learns from
Nirankush that the woman's name begins with the letter 'H'. Later, Ashoka
realizes that Kondna is Helena. But no one believes it. Ashoka is sure that
Kondna is Helena. He devises a plan to capture her and puts her in front of
everyone. Ashoka and Lasandra (Helena's enemy) capture Helena and force Siamak
to kill her.
Later,Ashoka and Kaurvaki get ready for marriage.Then Dharma and Devi meet an astrologer, who says that this marriage is full of many obstacles and that many innocent people will die in the battle of Kalinga. Frightened by this, Dharma decides to marry Devi instead of Ashoka and Kaurvaki. Jagannath tells Bindusara that Ashoka can marry Kaurvaki only if Bindusara gives Magadha Kingdom to him. Bindusara agrees. On the day of the wedding, Ashoka finds out about this and he annuls the marriage between himself and Kaurvaki. Angered, Ashoka stabs Jagannath with a knife and injures him. Kaurvaki Slaps him . Instead of Karuvaki, Ashoka marries Devi. But, On that night after Spending time with chanda , Sushima kills Dharma with Siamak's help. Ashoka breaks down and finds a part of neckless while gathering her ash. After learning that the neckless part belongs to Siamak, Ashoka thinks that Siamak killed his mother. Siamak gathers soldiers to leave for Takshashila as governor. Ashoka returns to Pataliputra after killing Siamak. At present, Susima and Bindusara are more powerful. Jagannath accuses Ashoka of killing Karuvaki. But the goddess who finds Kaurvaki, Ashoka is rescued. While Karuvaki lies on the bed, Charumitra tries to stab her. But, Karuvaki regains consciousness and puts her in bed, and covers her. Sushim comes there and stabs unaware that it was Charumitra. After Bindusara's death, there is a battle between Susima and Ashoka. Sushim jumps into a fire pit. Chanda Comes to Know this and Reavels about Shushim to become a father soon . The Magadha Samrat is then enthroned as Ashoka Maurya while Devi and Karuvaki are Magadh Queens. Later Devi Gets Preganant with Ashoka's Child and Gives birth to him as Mahinda when ashoka was on wars . Later Everyone leaves ashoka because of his Ego , like devi moves with His son and Preganat with Second child of ashoka . The story ends with the Kalinga war.
Production
The set was erected in Karjat. The
show was produced by Contiloe Entertainment. A team of at
least 500 people worked on the series. Episodes were shot across Jaisalmer,
Kerala, Mumbai's Film City and Karjat.
A lightman died on the set in April 2015
Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat was promoted on the comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri in February 2015. A game app "Ashoka:The Game" was launched by Colors TV in April 2015
